Branka Bhoyrul
Photography has always been the quiet constant in my life — a passion that began in the mountains of Slovenia, where I grew up surrounded by animals, forests, and the rhythms of nature. Those early years shaped not just my eye, but also my perspective — teaching me to find beauty in simplicity and stories in stillness.
Years later, I moved to Dubai, where I built a career in sales — first with Virgin Radio, and later in the real estate industry, where I continue to work today. While my professional path has taken different directions, photography has always been at the heart of how I experience and make sense of the world.
When my children were born, I felt a strong urge to reconnect with nature and give them the kind of upbringing I was fortunate to have. We relocated to the Amazon rainforest, where they played freely among the trees and animals. During this time, I turned my camera toward the lush landscapes and wildlife, while also documenting the heartbreaking effects of deforestation — using photography as a quiet voice for the environment.
My work has also taken me to Africa, Pakistan, India, and Bolivia, where I’ve captured stories of underprivileged children and brought attention to critical issues such as HIV, hunger, and lack of access to education. Over the years, I’ve been honored with recognition from the DFA and NAPCP, and have twice been shortlisted for the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Photography Award.
Photography continues to be my most powerful tool for reflection and storytelling — a way of connecting with people, places, and causes that matter deeply to me.
